How the FUT market actually works

Why prices move, what a price range is, and the 5% tax that decides whether a trade was ever worth doing. The thing to read before anything else.

Every card in Ultimate Team has a price range set by EA — a floor and a ceiling it can never trade outside. Everything else is supply and demand between those two walls.

Supply comes from packs. When a promo drops, millions of packs are opened and the market floods; prices fall. When packs dry up, supply stops and prices drift back up. That cycle is most of trading.

Demand comes from what people need: an SBC that eats a particular league, a promo that makes a nation relevant, a weekend where everyone rebuilds their team.

Then there's the tax. EA takes 5% of every sale. Buy at 100k and sell at 105k and you have made nothing — you have lost time. Every number we post already accounts for it, and you should never do the sum without it.
